Skiing: Mottaret, which is where we stayed, is at the top end of the Meribel valley, in the middle of the Three Valleys complex (Val Thorens, Meribel and Courchevel), Lots of variety of runs from the village - because it is at the upper end there isn't any great problems getting up either side to connect with Val Thorens or the Courchevel valley - lower down in Meribel properly there is more of a bit of a hike across. One problem with Mottaret is it is situated on a pretty steep slope so you end up hiking up and down steps to get to the local shops, or walking a long way around by road.
